Braves Continue to Dominate, Sweep Nats

The MLB season is still young, but with the Braves completing a sweep of the Nationals on Sunday afternoon, they have now already swept three clubs (also including the Cubs and the Marlins). For the Braves, the 9-0 victory is just the latest display of dominance from the red hot 11-1 ball club.

While the bats of the Braves have driven much of the discussion as they have outscored opponents 62-23 and enjoyed a 20-6 advantage in home runs, the pitching has been outstanding as well as Paul Maholm (3-0) pitched a 2 hit, no run outing into the eighth inning.

Justin Upton was once again an offensive catalyst for Atlanta, belting his seventh home run and eleventh RBI to go along with a .348 batting average. Shortstop Andrelton Simmons also hit a home run, and Justin’s brother B.J. delivered three hits and two runs for the Braves.

The Braves will now head home for a series against the Kansas City Royals beginning Tuesday while the 7-5 Nationals travel to Miami to begin a series against the last place Marlins on Monday.
