Ducks Win In OT Against Red Wings 3-2

The Anaheim Ducks won the third overtime game in their playoff series against the Detroit Red Wings 3-2 on Wednesday. They lead the series 3-2.

The game was evenly matched and there was never a clear front-runner. Both teams played hard and determined throughout the game. Detroit took a 1-0 lead in the first with a power play goal by Johan Franzen, but the Ducks answered back with a goal by Kyle Palmieri.

They entered the second period tied 1-1, but Detroit pulled ahead when Mikael Samuelsson scored. The Ducks would not stop fighting and scored a power play goal by Ryan Getzlaf with 30 seconds left in the period.

No one scored in the third period. Both teams were great on defense, but no offense could penetrate either goalie.

Overtime started and Anaheim knew they could not lose another overtime game. 1:54 into the period Nick Bonino put the puck passed Red Wings goalie Jimmy Howard.

Anaheim can wrap up the series in game six Friday night in Detroit.
