Dodgers Break 8 Game Losing Streak

The Los Angeles Dodgers ended their eight-game losing streak with a 7-1 victory over the Miami Marlins.

Dodgers pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu gave up five hits, three hits, and struck out one to earn his fourth win of the season. The only run for the Marlins was the top of the seventh when Miguel Olivo hit a solo home run to left field.

The Dodgers offense decided to show up too.  Andre Ethier had four hits, including two doubles and three runs. The first double was the first extra-base hit the Dodgers had in 30 at-bats. Dee Gordon, in only his sixth game this season, hit a solo home run to off the third. It was his first home run since May 1, 2012.

Skip Schumaker made his sixth start at second base as Mark Ellis recovers from a right quad strain. He had two hits, thre RBIs, and one run. His defensive skills were stellar as he threw a double play to stop a potential Marlins threat.

The embattled and injured Dodgers have failed to live up to the lofty expectations that have come with a payroll north of $200 million, and Dodgers skipper Don Mattingly may be on the hot seat if the Dodgers do not turn things around quickly in Los Angeles.
