NL East Rundown: Good pitching stymies division leaders

Arizona 2, Atlanta 0

Patrick Corbin ran his record to 6-0 despite walking five batters as the Diamondbacks beat the Braves with the help of an infield double. Julio Teheran took the tough luck loss for the Braves, who remained one game up on the Nationals.

The Braves went 0-4 with runners in scoring position in the loss. Bell worked the ninth for his fifth save of the year.

LA Dodgers 2, Washington 0

Clayton Kershaw was wild and threw 132 pitches, but blanked the injured Nationals over 8 2/3 innings for a 2-0 win Tuesday night.

Kershaw struck out 11 to overcome early problems, before giving way to Kenley Jansen in the ninth, who got one out to record his second save of the year. Dan Haren (4-4) took the loss for the Nationals. The rubber game of the series will have Zack Greinke pitching his first start for the Dodgers since going on the Disabled List April 12 with a broken clavicle.

Philadelphia 6, Cleveland 2

Jonathan Pettibone pitched into the 7th, and Kevin Frandsen and Domonic Brown homered as the resurgent Phillies beat the Indians 6-2 Tuesday night.

Pettibone (3-0) beat the Tribe’s Scott Kazmir (2-2), who gave up four runs in five plus innings.

St. Louis 10, NY Mets 4

The Cardinals chased Dillon Gee (2-5) after four innings to beat the Mets Tuesday night. John Gast (1-0) picked up his first big-league win.

Carlos Beltran belted his 10th homer in the fifth to put the game out of reach for the Mets, who are reeling after nearly catching the Nationals and Braves three weeks ago in the standings.

Cincinnati 6, Miami 2

Homer Bailey threw 125 pitches in a 6 hit gem to beat the Marlins 6-2. Ricky Nolasco gave up six runs in five innings for the loss, dropping his record to 2-5. Several Reds had good games against Nolasco, including Xavier Paul (three run double), Brandon Phillips (drove in two), and Joey Votto (three hits, drove in one).

The Marlins have totaled three runs in Nolasco’s past three starts.
