American Justin Gatlin defeated world-record holder Usain Bolt on Thursday in a 100-meter race in Rome, Italy.
Gatlin, the sprinter with unlimited potential who is continuing his redemption tour, finished the race with a time of 9.94 seconds. Bolt’s time was 9.95.
According to the Associated Press, this is Bolt’s “first significant loss since he was disqualified for a false start at the 2011 world championships in Daegu, South Korea. Bolt was also beaten by Tyson Gay in Stockholm in 2010.”
