Palace Malice Wins Belmont Stakes

Palace Malice Wins Belmont Stakes

Palace Malice won the Belmont Stakes on Saturday, which means a different horse won each of the Triple Crown races this year.

Orb won the Kentucky Derby but did not win the Preakness, which was won by Oxbow.

The horse finished 12th in the Kentucky Derby and skipped the Preakness and jockey Mike Smith said the key to winning the 1 1/2 mile race was taking the blinkers off the horse.

“It’s incredible,” Smith said, thanking Palace Malice’s team for sticking with the “old guy.”

There still has not been a Triple Crown winner since Affirmed in 1978.

Palace Malice paid $29.60 to win.
