Rivers and Clippers Have 'Mutual' Interest

After a highly successful nine year tenure with the Boston Celtics that has seen one championship banner added to the historic franchise, Doc Rivers may finally be ready to exit his current position and is reportedly interested in joining the Los Angeles Clippers as their next head coach.

The Clippers, eager to go from good to great, are looking to replace the fired Vinnie Del Negro and will also be looking to re-sign star guard Chris Paul and bolster a roster that fell short of expectations with a first round playoff exit.

Rivers, considered one of the best coaches in the NBA, would go a long way towards helping the once lowly franchise achieve each of those desired offseason goals.

Byron Scott, Brian Shaw, and Lionel Hollins are also in the running for the position. However, Rivers would almost certainly be the frontrunner once his interest became clearer. The Celtics, once a powerhouse in the East, will be facing several decisions regarding how to handle their aging stars, and it is unclear how any of those decisions will weigh on Rivers.
