Report: 3 Highest-Paid Pentagon Employees Are College Football Coaches

The three highest-paid people on the Pentagon budget are college football coaches.

According to Chicago Life Magazine, Army football coach Rich Ellerson, Navy football coach Ken Niumatalolo, and Air Force coach Troy Calhoun make more than anyone on the Pengaton’s payroll.

Niumataolo, the Navy coach who is considered one of the sport’s rising stars, made  $1,605,370 in 2012, making him the highest-paid Pengaton employee. Calhoun, Air Force’s coach, made 882,000 last year, making him second. And Ellerson’s $600,000 salary in 2012 makes him the third highest-paid Pentagon employee.

Many of the highest-paid public employees at the state level are college coaches as well. A recent Deadspin report found that the highest-paid public employee in 40 of the 50 states was a college football coach.
