On Wednesday, former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez was charged with the murder of Odin Lloyd in addition to five other gun-related charges in Attleboro (MA) District Court. Hernandez pled not guilty.
The prosecution asked that Hernandez be held without bail because he is a flight risk and has already tampered with the investigation. The judge agreed, denying Hernandez bail.
Last week, Lloyd’s body was found in an industrial park less than a mile from Hernandez’s home. Reports indicated Hernandez destroyed his security system, smashed his cell phone, and hired a cleaning crew to scrub his mansion.
Reports also indicated Hernandez, two friends, and Lloyd were seen entering a car driven by Hernandez hours before the alleged murder. Hernandez and two people–not including the victim–were reportedly seen leaving Hernandez’s car at his mansion hours after Odin’s alleged murder.
Odin, who was reportedly dating the sister of Hernandez’s girlfriend, reportedly had sent text messages to friends indicating he was with Hernandez and two others hours before his death.
The Patriots released Hernandez less than two hours after he was arrested on Wednesday.
