Vanderbilt Dismisses Four Football Players Amid Sex Crimes Investigation

Vanderbilt’s football team has dismissed four players who may also be a part of an investigation by Nashville police about whether a sex crime happened in a campus dorm.

According to the Associated Press, the players were dismissed for violating team rules, have been kicked off the campus and cannot return “without explicit permission” from the school’s office of student conduct and academic integrity.

Nashville Police Department spokesman Don Aaron “said Friday that the university’s decision was related to the police investigation” and Vanderbilt vice chancellor for public affairs Beth Fortune said: “The well-being of our students is of paramount concern to us, and we will not tolerate any actions that threaten safety and security.”

Aaron said police started to investigate a possible sex crime on Wednesday and the investigation is “open and very much active.”
