Kemp Explodes In Return To Dodgers Lineup, Injures Ankle

Matt Kemp returned to the Los Angeles Dodgers lineup after a stint on the 15-day DL with a bang on Sunday as Los Angeles beat the Washington Nationals 9-2. They swept the three game series and Kemp was a major part of the victory.

He was only a triple short of the cycle. The entire team lit up in the second-inning, scoring seven runs. Kemp homered to lead off the inning and later doubled, bringing home Andre Ethier. He singled in the fourth and brought home Hanley Ramirez.

He walked in the ninth and appeared to hurt his ankle when he lunged toward home on a force play–it looked like his ankle rolled. Manager Don Mattingly said the ankle is swelling a little, looks like a sprain and does not think he will return to the DL. The Dodgers Twitter account tweeted out that no x-rays were needed on the ankle.
