MLB: A-Rod Can Play During Appeals Process

Major League Baseball has reportedly told the New York Yankees that while Alex Rodriguez will get a hefty suspension, the embattled slugger will be able to play while he appeals his punishment. MLB will announce Rodriguez’s suspension on Monday.

Yankees manager Joe Girardi said he would pencil in Rodriguez into the lineup for Monday’s game at the Chicago White Sox.

Rodriguez may face a 214-game ban for obstructing Major League Baseball’s investigation into the Biogenesis Clinic and for allegedly again violating baseball’s drug policy.

MLB Commissioner Bud Selig reportedly was willing to sign off on a punishment that was less than 214 games, which would end at the start of the 2014 season, until Rodriguez alleged Major League Baseball and the Yankees were colluding to ban him from the game in remarks this weekend.
