Following Sunday night’s 10-2 win over the San Francisco Giants, Baltimore Orioles center fielder Adam Jones tweeted that a fan in San Francisco’s outfield seats threw a banana at him while he was in the outfield.
Jones tweeted:
I want to thank whatever slapdick threw that banana towards my direction in CF in the last inning. Way to show ur class u jackass.

Racism continues to be an issue in many sports around the world, with incidents more recently popping up in the NHL. FIFA was forced to launch the “Say No to Racism” campaign in the last few years in effort to combat the large number of incidents occurring at stadiums directed at black players.
San Francisco stated that they did not receive any reports of such an incident, but also noted that team officials will be reviewing security tapes on Monday.
Jones was having a tremendous game on Sunday, tallying 4 RBIs, 3 of which came on a home-run in the top of the 9th. Jones’ states that it was in the bottom of the 9th, after the home-run, that the fan threw the banana at him.
