Detroit Lions defender Ndamukong Suh has been fined $100,000 by the NFL for his low hit on Minnesota’s John Sullivan on Sunday, NFL.com reported Tuesday.
According to the website, Suh was informed of the hefty fine by NFL vice president of football operations Merton Hanks.
Suh was called for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty after he hit Sullivan in the knees while making a block during an interception return by Detroit’s DeAndre Levy.
The Detroit Free Press had reported on Monday that the NFL was considering a suspension for Suh because he is a repeat offender.
Suh has been fined multiple times for his play on the field, and even met with league commissioner Roger Goodell about it during the 2011 season.
He was suspended two games late in 2011 campaign after stomping on the arm of Green Bay’s Evan Dietrich-Smith during a Thanksgiving Day game.
He was fined $30,000 for a kick to the groin of Houston quarterback Matt Schaub in a Thanksgiving game last year.
He was fined twice in his rookie season of 2010 for unsportsmanlike conduct.
