New York Giants cornerback Prince Amukamara is in his third year in the NFL, and, despite certain countless temptations, has never consumed alcohol and is proud to be a virgin.

His commitment to sexual and personal purity has apparently earned him an interesting moniker.

“Yeah, some people call me the Black Tim Tebow,” Amukamara admitted, adding,”Yeah, I am a virgin. I’m not ashamed to say that.”

The former first-round pick has been open about his Christian faith since his collegiate career. Moreover, his waiting seems to have finally paid off as he is now engaged to be married, thanks to the prodding of some fellow members of the Giants’ defensive backfield.

He confessed that he may or may not drink his first alcoholic beverage at his bachelor party but remains committed to a lifestyle that is markedly different than others in the NFL.

“As I grew up, Irealized that’s not what it’s about,” he said. “It’s about having arelationship with Jesus. It’s not about ‘Don’t do this. Amukamara has recorded 81 tackles and 2 interceptions in two full seasons with the Giants. The former Nebraska standout is currently starting opposite of Corey Webster for a New York defense that had the unfortunate occurrence of having to face off against Peyton Manning on Sunday.
