#19 Wolverines Beat Gophers To Stay Perfect at The Big House

The Brown Jug will remain in Ann Arbor, MI after the Michigan Wolverines obliterated the Minnesota Gophers 42-13 on Saturday.

The final score is deceiving, though, because Minnesota put up a good fight despite off-field distractions. Head coach Jerry Kill, who suffers from epilepsy, suffered a seizure and did not make the trip with the team. Minnesota’s defense was able to keep Michigan’s offense at bay. Otherwise the score would have been a lot worse for Minnesota. The only thing that tripped them up was Michigan’s running game.

This is the first game Devin Gardner did not throw an interception since his first start at quarterback last year in Minnesota. He ended the game 13/17 and 235 yards. Gardner had one passing touchdown to Devin Funchess and one running touchdown. The star of the game was running back Fitzgerald Touissant. He had two running touchdowns, 17 carries, and 78 yards.

The Wolverines have won 18 home games in a row, which is the longest active streak among FBS teams. The last two home games against lesser teams were too close, and this game brought much relief to the team.

“Our offense is ready to roll again,” said Gardner.

“No turnovers, had two penalties,” said Michigan head coach Brady Hoke. “Speaks to how these guys worked during the bye week. It’s a work in progress. We’re improving, but we’re a long way away from where we want to be.”
