Texans Fans Cheer QB Matt Schaub Injury

When Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub went down with an ankle injury during Sunday’s 38-13 loss, some fans at Texans’ Reliant Stadium cheered when they saw Schaub on the ground. The volume of the cheers increased as backup QB T.J. Yates came on to replace him.

Teammates were quick to defend Schaub and condemn the behavior of the fans after the game. Texans linebacker Brian Cushing called the fans “barbaric,” joining running back Arian Foster and wide receiver Andre Johnson in disgust with the fans that cheered. Texans cornerback Johnathan Joseph said he didn’t want those fans showing up anymore.

The reaction of some fans to the Houston starting quarterback’s injury comes on the heels of reports that angry fans showed up at his house and confronted him and his family concerning his recent poor play. In relief, backup QB T.J. Yates threw 2 interceptions, one of which was returned 98 yards for a touchdown extending the Texans’ streak of giving up an interception that is returned for a touchdown to 5 straight games.
