Around 100 People Protest Redskins Name in Denver

The Oneida Nation and other Native Americans groups are organizing protests in cities where the Redskins play their road games to try to pressure to the team to change their name.

The Redskins, as they have been in cities like Green Bay, were greeted with about 100 protesters before Sunday’s game at Denver against the Broncos.

The Oneida Nation bought radio ads on local stations and an “American Indian Movement of Colorado” organizer organized protests.

“We want the players and the coaches to be aware there is national attention on this,” American Indian Movement of Colorado organizer Glenn Morris said, according to the Denver Post. “We want to pique their consciences to get them to start pressuring owner Dan Snyder from the inside out.”
