A South Florida jury has resumed deliberations in the trial of a man accused of fatally shooting Washington Redskins star Sean Taylor during an ill-fated 2007 burglary.

The 12-person panel returned Friday morning to debate the fate of 23-year-old Eric Rivera Jr., the third day of deliberations.

They were delayed because a Florida criminal law book was found Thursday in the jury room. Rivera decided not to ask for a mistrial for possible juror misconduct.

Rivera faces life in prison if convicted of murder and armed burglary. He confessed to police that he shot Taylor during the botched burglary. But Rivera testified in his own defense that the confession was improperly coerced.

Four other young men from the Fort Myers area were charged, and one has pleaded guilty.
