Warren Sapp: I Wasn't Bothered When Incognito Called Me 'N-Word' to Provoke Me on Field

On Wednesday, former NFL player and Hall of Famer Warren Sapp said embattled Dolphins offensive lineman Richie Incognito called him the “N-word” once during a game. Sapp said he brushed off the comments because every black player has been agitated like that by opponents looking to draw penalties.

Appearing on the Dan Patrick Show, Sapp recalled the incident, and Patrick seemed “a little taken aback by how casually Sapp recounts the events without enmity.”

Sapp said Incognito even kicked him before he told Incognito, “Is that all you got?”

He said he told Incognito he would “beat your quarterback up so they cut your a–…”

Sapp said the incident did not bother him on the field because he understood Incognito was trying to get Sapp to retaliate and either get Sapp kicked out or draw a penalty that would hurt Sapp’s team.

The Dolphins have indefinitely suspended Incognito after teammate Jonathan Martin left the team after he alleged Incognito repeatedly harassed and threatened him and used the “N-word.”
