Nick Saban: I 'Never Even Considered' Texas

After agreeing to a long-term extension worth north of $7 million a year on Friday night, Alabama coach Nick Saban said he is finishing his coaching career in Tuscaloosa and never even considered going to Texas.

“The way this sort of got spun, it was a little bit more like, ‘OK, he got a new contract at Alabama, so he’s going to stay at Alabama instead of going to Texas,'” Saban told ESPN on Saturday. “I never considered going to Texas. That wasn’t even a conversation.

Saban said he doesn’t know “how many times” he can say, “I don’t want to go someplace else.”

For a week, there were rampant rumors that Texas officials wanted Saban to be Texas’ next coach after the impending resignation of Texas head coach Mack Brown. As of this writing, Brown is still Texas’ head coach.
