When model and NFL wife Lauren Tannehill returned her rented Nissan Rogue to the rental office earlier this month she forgot something–not her purse or her shoes–but her AR-15.
The next person who rented the car found the AR-15, valued at $2,000, and drove it to the nearest police station on January 4.
According to Sun-Sentinel, a Broward County sheriff spokesperson said there was nothing “criminal” in connection with the gun–“it was legally owned and accidentally left behind.”
The Tannehills went to Texas A&M and were married last year. They are gun enthusiasts, and Lauren frequently posts pictures on Twitter of “her and her husband shooting guns together.”
The Tannehill’s knew they had misplaced the gun and called the rental company to report a missing bag before the gun was discovered by the next renter. The gun was in a special bag made to carry rifles to and from a shooting range.
