Texas Tech Fan Shoved by Marcus Smart Apologizes for Calling Player 'Piece of Crap'

Jeff Orr, the man that Oklahoma State basketball star Marcus Smart shoved during Saturday’s game against Texas Tech, apologized to Smart for calling him a “piece of crap,” which is why Smart may have gone into the stands to push him. Contrary to rumors that were going around after the game that indicated Orr may have used a racial slur, Orr emphasized that he did not “use a racial slur of any kind.”

Orr can be heard saying what seems like “piece of crap” in a new video of the incident that was released on Sunday.

“I would like to take this opportunity to offer my sincere apologies to Marcus Smart, Oklahoma State, Tubby Smith and the Texas Tech Men’s Basketball program,” Jeff Orr said in a statement. “My actions last night were inappropriate and do not reflect myself or Texas Tech – a university I love dearly. I regret calling Mr. Smart a “piece of crap” but I want to make it known that I did not use a racial slur of any kind. Additionally, I would like to offer my apologies to Texas Tech fans that have been embarrassed by the attention this incident has created.”

Orr has reportedly offered to not attend Texas Tech games for the remainder of the season. Smart was suspended for three games on Sunday and also apologized during a press conference at Oklahoma State.
