Brewers Reliever Rodriguez Injured Stepping on Cactus at Spring Training

Milwaukee Brewers reliever Francisco Rodriguez stepped on a cactus with his barefoot in Phoenix. His debut will be delayed a few days.

“They took out a lot of the thorns but there’s still some in there,” said manager Ron Roenicke. “I don’t think it’s that big of a setback but I imagine he’s pretty sore today. You know how little some of the thorns are and they break off in there. So, I don’t know. But that’s what’s going on.”

“He may still say he wants to pitch (Thursday),” said Roenicke. “It’ll be tough to keep him back, the way he is. I just have to talk to him and see how he’s doing.”

This is not Rodriguez’s first setback. He was stuck in Venezuela because he needed a work visa and he had to leave behind a country torn by protests. Fortunately, the cactus injury might not be a big deal and he should be back soon.
