Before Sunday’s MLB game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Arizona Diamondbacks in Australia, Major League Baseball honored slain Australian college baseball player Chris Lane, who was tragically killed last year in Oklahoma by teenagers who allegedly killed him because they were just bored.
There was a moment of silence before the game. MLB Commissioner Bud Selig presented Lane’s parents with the home plate from Saturday’s game.
Lane was jogging while visiting his girlfriend near Duncan, Oklahoma when he was shot and murdered for fun. Lane played college baseball at East Central University in Oklahoma.
