Reds Pitcher Alfredo Simon Accused of Rape

Cincinnati Reds pitcher Alfredo Simon has been sued by a woman alleging that he sexually assaulted her in the historic Mayflower hotel in Washington. The Reds were in the nation’s capital to play the Washington Nationals at the time.

In the lawsuit, filed Thursday, the woman alleges that in April 2013, Simon, who is 6’6″, attacked her. Her brief says she was intoxicated and thus could not consent to the act. WMAR-TV in Baltimore procured a copy of the woman’s lawsuit, which seeks $15 million from Simon.

Simon’s agent, Adam Katz, had no comment.

Simon, 32, was acquitted of a charge of involuntary manslaughter after being imprisoned on that charge in the Dominican Republic in 2011. He played for the Baltimore Orioles from 2008-2011, and has played for the Reds since 2012. He is reportedly making $1.5 million in 2014.
