Gatorade Apologizes for Mocking LeBron James

On Friday, Gatorade apologized after its Twitter account mocked LeBron James after he cramped up and had to be sidelined in the Heat’s Game 1 loss in San Antonio on Thursday.

Gatorade sponsors James’ teammate Dwyane Wade, but James is endorsed by rival Powerade.

“Our apologies for our response to fans’ tweets during (Thursday) night’s Heat vs. Spurs game,” Gatorade said. “We got caught up in the heat of the battle. As a longtime partner of the Miami Heat, we support the entire team.”

James mentioned that he had trouble breathing after the air conditioning in the arena broke and the temperature in the arena quickly rose to 90 degrees.

The Gatorade account had Tweeted that James was not their client and that James chooses to drink something else.
