Seahawks Receive Super Bowl Rings

The Seattle Seahawks received their Super Bowl rings last night in a ceremony the team dubs “private.” But the public that supported the franchise receives ample acknowledgement in the jewelry.

The two openings of the ring feature “12” atop the finger hole in reference to the team’s twelfth man–the crowd. Twelve diamonds frame the team’s ugly-bird logo. One side of the ring features the twelfth-man flag set to the backdrop of Mount Rainier.

Tiffany & Co. crafted the ring with the input of coach Pete Carroll, owner Paul Allen, and other team executives. In addition to commemorating the big win, the ring looks forward. The question “What’s Next?” appears on the underside of the piece in addition to the game’s score and the phrase “Leave No Doubt.” The Seahawks certainly left no doubt. From scoring a safety on the first play from scrimmage to touchdowns in all three phases of the game, Seattle dominated the game against Denver.

“Super Bowl XLVIII marked monumental firsts,” Tiffany’s Victoria Reynolds said in a statement. “It was the first time that the world’s most-watched sporting event took place in New York, the city where Tiffany & Co. was born more than 177 years ago; and also marked the first championship victory for the Seattle Seahawks. Having crafted the Vince Lombardi Trophy since its inception in 1969, we are proud to have now also crafted the first Seattle Seahawks Championship ring–both being the purest symbols of hard work and perseverance.”
