L'Oreal Dumps Model Discovered at World Cup for Posting Photo of Gazelle Hunt

L’Oreal signed 17-year-old Alex Despiegelaere after seeing photos of her cheering for Belgium during the World Cup.

They ended the contract with her after she posted a photo of herself with “what appears to be a dead gazelle she shot while hunting.”

According to Business Insider, the caption Despiegelaere used for the Facebook photo was in reference to a World Cup match: “Hunting is not a matter of life or death. It’s much more important than that…this is about 1 year ago…ready to hunt Americans today haha.”

L’Oreal said they are aware of the photograph but would not say it was the direct cause of their decision to let Despiegelaere go. But a representative did tell The Telegraph that “[L’Oreal] no longer tests on animals, anywhere in the world, and does not delegate this task to others.”
