Nike, Madden Video Game Drop Ray Rice

A day after the NFL suspended Ray Rice indefinitely and the Ravens cut him over a surveillance video that showed him knocking out his then-fiancee in an elevator, Nike and EA Sports dropped Rice as well on Tuesday.

According to ESPN, Nike, which is the “official apparel provider” of the NFL, “used Rice as recently as January to unveil to the press the special cold-weather gear it made for the Super Bowl in New Jersey.”

EA Sports will remove Rice from its Madden rosters by Friday.

“With Ray Rice’s indefinite suspension from the NFL, he will be removed from ‘Madden NFL 15,'” EA Sports communications director Julie Foster told the outlet. “This roster change will take place by this Friday.”

Rice also reportedly lost an endorsement deal he had with “a jump training program called VertiMax” as the Ravens and sporting goods stores offered exchanges for Ray Rice jerseys.
