Ray Rice Breaks Silence: 'I Have to Be Strong for My Wife'

A day after the Ravens cut him and the NFL indefinitely suspended him, former Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice broke his silence on Tuesday, telling ESPN that he and his wife are in “good spirits” and that he has to be strong for her.

“I have to be strong for my wife,” Rice told ESPN’s Josina Anderson on Tuesday. “She is so strong. We are in good spirits. We have a lot of people praying for us and we’ll continue to support each other. I have to be there for (Janay) and my family right now and work through this.”

On Monday, TMZ released a video that showed Rice knocking out his then-fiancee (Rice and Janay Palmer later married) in an Atlantic City elevator. On Tuesday morning, Rice’s wife blasted the mainstream media for forcing her to relive a nightmare and taking away Rice’s livelihood.
