BOSTON—“That’s my secret only,” Donald Cerrone told interviewer Joe Rogan on how banged up he was fighting just fifteen days after fighting. The fatigue proved no matter at TD Garden in Boston Sunday night, as the third time proved a charm in his trilogy with Benson Henderson.

Ben Henderson punches and kicks Donald Cerrone’s dangerous lead leg in a strategy to negate his opponent’s strength and lands a loopng right hand to put a deeper imprint on the first round than Cowboy.

In the second, Cerrone lands with a head kick and a big right hand. He scores a takedown with 90 seconds remaining. Cowboy puts the exclamation point on the round by kicking Smooth roughly in the face.

The friends begin the final frame by hugging. They proceed to let fists fly. They swing wildly. Cowboy’s kicks find a home and he nails Ben with a punch. Ben lands a knee. But it’s Cerrone stalking, scoring with kicks, and ultimately landing another takedown. He attacks Henderson to end the round.

The judges unanimously see the fight 29-28 for the crowd-favorite Cerrone.Breitbart Sports sees it 29-28 Cerrone as well.

Cowboy wins his sixth fight in the last calendar year and sets a UFC lightweight division record by winning his seventh consecutive bout in the promotion.
