EA Sports announced that Chicago Blackhawks player Patrick Kane will not appear on the cover of NHL 16 with his teammate Jonathan Toews because of rape allegations involving Kane near Buffalo, New York. It was going to be the first time two players appeared on the cover.

The Blackhawks won their third Stanley Cup in six years in June. EA Sports immediately announced the decision to display the two superstars, which Black Hawks fans celebrated. But after rape allegations surfaced against Kane, EA Sports decided to distance themselves from the hockey player.
Toews will grace the cover alone.

On August 1, Kane stands accused of rape by a woman he took to his mansion after he met her at a local bar. The unidentified woman went to a local hospital for a rape kit and examination. Bite and scratch marks allegedly mark her body.
ESPN’s Katie Strang reported no time frame for new information on the case. The police department awaits the results of forensic tests.
