President Barack Obama hosted the national champion Alabama Crimson Tide at the White House on Wednesday.

“My first question is: Coach, what took you so long?” the president asked head coach Nick Saban. “It’s been three whole years since I last saw you.”

Alabama’s coach, now owning five national championships, referred to the president as O-bama. Recent Sports Illustrated coverboy Kenyan Drake captioned an Instagram photo in which he appeared with Nick Saban as posing with “the most powerful man in the country” at the White House.

“The last time a team went on this kind of run was in the 1940s.” Obama recognized. “Back then, folks were still wearing leather helmets.  I don’t feel like anybody in a leather helmet would do too well trying to tackle Derrick Henry.”

Alabama won the national championship game by beating Clemson 45-40. The game included a 40-point explosion of scoring in the fourth quarter.
