Beast Mode teamed with Slick Willie for a day of service, or at least a photo op, for Oakland schools this weekend.

Retired running back Marshawn Lynch, a graduate of Oakland public schools, gave back in appreciation of the education Oakland provided him. The monosyllabic Skittles enthusiast joined with Bill and Chelsea Clinton to help the public schools in a day of volunteerism.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports, “The volunteers painted murals, organized the library, and created colorful art pieces for the garden and other areas of the school, among other improvements.” It’s unclear whether Clinton or Lynch lent their labor as well as their names to the event.

The Clinton Global Initiative sponsored the do-gooder activity. California’s primary takes place in just over two months. What’s that aphorism about doing well by doing good?
