Before England’s shocking 2-1 defeat to Iceland in Euro 2016 round-of-16 match on Monday evening in the south of France, English soccer fans thrilled with the United Kingdom’s decision to leave the European Union were reportedly chanting “we voted to leave” and “we’re not in Europe anymore.”

One soccer fan told the Associated Press that young people between 18 to 30 who voted to leave, though, are being “vilified” on social media networks.
“You are seen as xenophobic, racist by anyone who voted it seems. People can’t accept it,” the soccer fan reportedly said.
Some English fans who were upset with the Brexit vote were even rooting for Iceland to win the match.
