Football Legend Lou Holtz Calls Immigration an ‘Invasion,’ Says Donald Trump Wants a First-Class America

College Football Hall-of-Fame coach Lou Holtz showed that endorsing Donald J. Trump and hanging out at the Republican National Convention works as a perfect excuse to party.

Witnesses attest that they saw the soon-to-be octogenarian roaming about the convention floor toting a bottle of Crown Royal on Monday and taking photos with attendees. On Tuesday, he spoke at an event honoring Phyllis Schlafly and characterized immigration to America as an “invasion.” He described immigrant attitudes toward America this way, “I don’t want to become you. I don’t want to speak your language, I don’t want to celebrate your holidays, I sure as hell don’t want to cheer for your soccer team!”

Holtz, the only college football coach to ever take six different NCAA football teams to bowl games, led Notre Dame to a  12-0 season and to becoming a consensus national champion in 1988.  The now-retired coach and TV football analyst started his coaching career at the College of William and Mary in 1969. A West Virginia native and former linebacker at Kent State, Holtz walked the sidelines with clip board in hand for the last time in 2004 as coach of the University of South Carolina. He compiled a career record of 249–132–7, rendering him the 26th all-time winningest college football coach.

Why is the bespectacled coaching icon all in for Trump? “The main reason I’m endorsing him: I played on his golf course, I stayed in his hotel. He does nothing but go first class in everything. He wants this country to be first class as well,” he explained to Sporting News.

The inspirational Holtz now joins a number of sports celebrities endorsing the New York billionaire and wanting to help  “Make America Great Again.” Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh recently threw his name behind Trump, saying, “I’m going Trump here… Build a wall, it’s not that hard. You don’t have a border, you don’t have a country. You’re not a country without a border, right? At the same time, you got 12 to 15 million hard-working people here. Give them a shot.”

Ex-Chicago Bears Coach Mike Ditka, Patriots QB Tom Brady, former Heavyweight Boxing Champ Mike Tyson, former Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow, boxing promoter Don King, NBA weirdo Dennis Rodman, NFL great Herschel Walker, MLB’s all-time leading hitter Pete Rose, and Indiana basketball coaching legend Bobby Knight all support Trump in the 2016 presidential election.
