President-elect Donald J. Trump considers New York Jets owner Woody Johnson a prime candidate to become the U.S. ambassador to the United Kingdom.
Coming off a horrendous loss to the Indiana Colts on Monday Night, and considering the Jets disastrous 3-9 overall record, the timing seems perfect for the 69-year-old entrepreneur and philanthropist to embark on a new career. Moreover, as Page Six points out, last year the U.K. proved to be lucky for Johnson. His hapless gridiron participants actually beat the Dolphins 27-14 at London’s Wembley Stadium.
During Monday’s contest, Vice President-Elect Mike Pence sat next to Johnson in the tycoon’s MetLife Stadium suite enjoying the game in East Rutherford New Jersey. The Indiana governor, obviously, had more to cheer about than Johnson. The Colts dismantled the New York franchise 41-10.

No stranger to Republican politics, Johnson has contributed to Republican campaigns over the year. He raised millions for Senator John McCain’s 2008 presidential run and was named the National Finance Chairman for Governor Jeb Bush’s Presidential campaign in 2016. The football enthusiast jumped on the Trump for President train in May. Now it appears Johnson may be part of the administration come January 20, 2017, when the President-Elect is sworn in as the 45th president of the United States.
