As part of the ongoing hype for the much-discussed Floyd Mayweather-Conor McGregor fight, a new deal is in the works to show the bout at local movie theaters, reports say.

Theaters from coast to coast are set to show the Aug. 26 fight according to a Tuesday announcement by Fathom Events and Mayweather Promotions, USA Today reported.

The ticket tab will be much less of a shock to the wallet in the theaters, too. With ticket prices ranging from $500 to a hefty $10,000 per person in the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, and pricing at $99.95 for the high-definition pay-per-view offerings, the cost at local movie houses will be only $40 per head.

“The buzz that my fight against Conor McGregor is getting has been great already, so what better way to watch this larger-than-life event than on the big screen? We brought boxing back to movie theaters eight years ago, and it was a huge success,” Mayweather boasted. “But this event is on a different level, and I’m so glad we are giving fans another way to see all the action.”

McGregor hasn’t commented on the movie house plan, but he has made a series of other comments that have sparked outraged fans to level charges of racism against him.

McGregor has made so many off-color comments that his dad recently came out to insist that his son is not a racist.

“Conor McGregor is not racist,” the elder McGregor said a week ago. “This fight is not about race. This fight is about skill and technique. In fact, I don’t think any fight is ever about race. The color of skin is immaterial. It’s the victory that Conor is looking for. It’s imperative. That’s the only thing I’d say in that.”

“Conor is absolutely, unequivocally not racist,” Tony McGregor added. “It’s not about skin color. No two combatants would ever get into a ring, and the issue would be the color of their opposing skin. No, absolutely not. It’s a fight issue, not a race issue.”
