Ezekiel Elliott: Accuser Said ‘You Are a Black Male Athlete. I’m a White Girl They Are Not Going to Believe You’

Preparing to appeal his six-game suspension for domestic violence, Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott has released a series of claims, he says, show that his accuser lacks credibility. In particular, Ezekiel says the woman told him no one would believe a black man over a white woman.

Ezekiel is apparently planning to build his appeal on the claim that the NFL didn’t look closely enough at the motivations of his accuser, ex-girlfriend Tiffany Thompson.

Last July Thompson accused Elliott of beating her, but after an investigation, Ohio prosecutors declined to press charges against the player. Authorities cited a lack of evidence to prove the attack as a reason for dropping the case. Last October prosecutor Robert S. Tobias told USA Today, “I personally believe that there were a series of interactions between Mr. Elliott and (his accuser) where violence occurred. However, given the totality of the circumstances, I could not firmly conclude exactly what happened.”

Thompson took her case to the NFL, and the effort resulted in a six-game suspension for the 2016 All-Pro team member.

Now, as Elliott prepares to appeal the league’s decision, the player released a list of talking points to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram meant to show how calculating and vindictive Thompson has been over her accusations.

The list of points includes:

  • The report also details a text message in which Thompson told Elliott: “You better be smart. And not be a dumb man.”
  • After being told she couldn’t come Elliott’s 21st birthday party, Thompson told him “that’s worst decision you made in your life. I’m going to ruin your life now.”
  • After not being allowed in the after party, she was heard yelling and screaming that “your career is over” and then proceeded to call the police.
  • Elliott is also “100 percent certain” Thompson told him on July 22, “You are a black male athlete. I’m a white girl. They are not going to believe you.”

With these points, Elliott hopes to show that Thompson set out on a smear campaign and that she used the charge of domestic violence to do so.
