The National Hockey League announced that the Philadelphia Flyers and Pittsburgh Penguins face off again in its Stadium Series, this time at Lincoln Financial Field in the City of Brotherly Love.

The game takes place on Saturday, February 23, 2019. Earlier this year, but last season, the Flyers beat the Penguins 4-2 at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh. So, next year’s game works as a rematch of sorts.

“The Penguins and Flyers will renew one of our League’s fiercest rivalries in this Coors Light NHL Stadium Series match-up,” NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman explained in a statement. “Lincoln Financial Field will provide a perfect setting for these cross-state opponents and their passionate fan-bases.”

The announcement follows news that Notre Dame Stadium, with touchdown Jesus looking quizzically upon hockey, plays host to the Boston Bruins and Chicago Blackhawks in the 2019 Winter Classic.

The Winter Classic, which takes place annually on New Year’s Day, features the New York Rangers playing the Buffalo Sabres this season at Citi Field in Queens. This season’s Stadium Series game occurs at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Maryland, where the Washington Capitals take on the Toronto Maple Leafs on March 3.

In contrast to past years, when the NHL scheduled numerous outdoor games, the league features a single Stadium Series contest this season to go along with the Winter Classic. Although outdoor games boosted gate attendance and ratings, fans complained that the novelty had worn off and that the NHL, by scheduling so many stadium games, was killing the goose that laid the golden egg. No Heritage Classic, contested in Canada by Canadian teams, appears on the schedule this season.
