The WWE’s female wrestlers are well known for their skin-baring costumes, but that habit took a radically different turn as the women geared up this month for an exhibition in the Middle East.

Gone were the skimpy costumes, replaced by outfits covering their entire bodies, leaving bare only faces and hands.

For wrestling’s first big splash in the Middle East, a major change to the women’s normal gear was required, TMZ reported. The revealing costumes the women normally wear was simply too revealing for Muslim sensibilities.

Wrestler Sasha Banks was emotional on a video posted before the match saying that being welcomed in the Middle East made her cry. “I started crying,” she said, “because of how huge this is. It’s bigger than me.

“I want to empower women and let them know that their dreams are endless and they can achieve anything,” she said.

WWE posted a number of Tweets with a plethora of photos of the women competitors in their Muslim-approved full-body costumes.
