The Cleveland Browns hired Rob Chudzinski as their new head coach, replacing Pat Shurmur, who was fired at the end of the season, the National Football League team announced.
Chudzinski, who was the Carolina Panthers offensive co-ordinator, becomes the Browns' sixth head coach since 1999.
The Browns finished a disappointing 5-11 under Shurmur this season. In two years with Cleveland, Shurmur had nine wins and 23 losses.
Chudzinski has had two previous stints with the Browns, first as the tight ends coach in 2004 and as an offensive co-ordinator coach in 2007-08.
