Saudi Arabia: 18 people arrested in spying investigation

WAM RIYADH: Saudi security authorities managed, in coordinated and simultaneous security operations, to arrest 16 Saudis, one Iranian and one Lebanese in four regions across the Kingdom: Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh and the Eastern region, the security spokesman of Saudi Ministry of Interior said.
The arrests were based on information available to the General Intelligence Presidency about the involvement of a number of Saudis and expatriates residing in the Kingdom, in espionage activities for the benefit of a foreign country, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) quoted the Ministry's spokesman as saying.
According to the security spokesman, the arrested men were involved in collecting information on vital locations and installations as well as communicating with intelligence bodies in that foreign country.
He indicated that legal procedures will be completed to interrogate with the arrested men before their case would be referred to the competent judicial authorities..
