Laos official praises Sultan bin Shakhboot for development of continuing popularity of chess


WAM ABU DHABI, May 23rd, 2013 — Khamana Anthirat, Laotian Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, and President of that nation’s Chess Federation, has praised the efforts of Sheikh Sultan bin Khalifa bin Shakhboot Al Nahyan, President of the Asian Chess Federation, in the deployment and development of the game in Asia in general, and Laos in particular.




This came during a reception hosted by Khamana on the occassion of a visit by Hisham Ali Taher, Secretary General of the Asian Chess Federation, who is currently in Laos as part of a shuttle tour to a number of Asian countries to discuss plans for spreading the popularity of the game and to follow up on their readiness to host a number of events including the Junior Asian Championships in Laos in 2015.




Praising the Championship and its importance in the international calendar, Khamana Anthirat re-affirmed his country’s ability to regulate the continent-wide event and present it in the best possible light.
