Leipzig, Germany, March 23 (QNA) – Customs officials at a German airport intercepted a drug delivery from South America that was on its way to the Vatican, a German newspaper reported.
Officials at the Leipzig-Halle airport discovered the drugs in a freight shipment on January 19, the weekly Bild am Sonntag newspaper reported, quoting a customs report.
The cocaine had an estimated value of 40,000 euro about (55,000 dollars) and was in liquid form inside 14 condoms, according to the newspaper, which published a copy of the customs report along with its story.
Authorities in Germany and the Vatican are investigating to determine who posted it from South America. It was addressed to the Vatican’s post office, but there was no name on the shipment, the report said. (QNA)
