TRA Participates in the Hear My Voice Conference 2014

WAM ABU DHABI, 16th April, 2014 (WAM) — The Telecommunications Regulation Authority, TRA, has officially announced its support for second edition of the annual Hear My Voice Conference taking place on April 16th and 17th, 2014, at Mohammed bin Rashid Academic Medical Centre, Health Care City, Dubai.

Held under the patronage of Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, the event is organised by the Kalimati Speech and Communication Centre in conjunction with the U.A.E. Deaf Association.

"The TRA works closely with all U.A.E. organisations that provide support for individuals who are either hearing impaired or deaf. Ensuring that this section of society are afforded equal access to resources and the necessary educational tools is paramount and ultimately leads to a better quality of life. Without doubt, conferences such as Hear My Voice have a huge impact in helping us all establish a clear vision as to how we can strengthen the position of the deaf community here in the U.A.E.," said Mohammed Nasser Al Ghanim, TRA Director-General.

"Positively, the U.A.E. Government has prioritised the use of technology as a key enabler for those who are hearing impaired or deaf. We have recently witnessed a transition in the provision of government services through smart applications and this modern shift in service delivery has certainly aided the deaf community," he added.

This year’s conference sees the participation of many prominent industry experts on both local and international levels. The agenda is comprised of series of lecture and discussion workshops that tackle all issues relating to the international hearing impaired and deaf community.
