ADSIC's innovative AD-SDI programme takes centre stage at GISWORX 2014


WAM ABU DHABI, 16th April, 2014 (WAM) — Abu Dhabi Systems and Information Centre, ADSIC, showcased its pioneering services and initiatives for Abu Dhabi Spatial Data Infrastructure (AD-SDI) programme during the 9th edition of the GIS Workshops and Exhibitions-GISWORX’ 14.




The event, running from 15th -17th April in Dubai, witnessed the participation of more than 800 ESRI users from across the GCC.




Khawla Al Fahim, Acting Executive Manager at Spatial Data Centre, delivered a key presentation during the event’s opening-day plenary session. During the session, she shed light on the factors that contributed to the outstanding achievements of the AD-SDI programme and how it has helped streamline the business operations of government services via spatial information and sharing. She also emphasised the essential role of executive leadership and sustained collaborations with stakeholders to modernise government services by spatially enabling them.




Commenting on the event, Al Fahim said, "GISWORX is an ideal networking platform that highlights the latest innovative technological solutions offered by ESRI to users. The event is the largest Geographic Information System (GIS) users gathering in the Middle East and facilitates sharing best practices, research, ideas, experiences and building long-lasting relationships amongst stakeholders." ADSIC is the government entity in charge of Abu Dhabi’s Information and Communications Technology (ICT) agenda. The entity has witnessed increased use and remarkable growth in spatial datasets across different applications, which has helped government entities in the Abu Dhabi offer new services. As of today, the AD-SDI programme consists of 64 government entities.
