FANR Hosts Dubai Public Forum


WAM Abu Dhabi, 16th April 2014 (WAM) – The Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR) will host its fifth public forum on 21 April 2014 at the Ritz Carlton DIFC in Dubai. The aim of this forum is to demonstrate FANR’s transparent communication with the public and introduce the role it plays in ensuring safety, security, and safeguards in the UAE’s peaceful nuclear power programme and in the use of radioactive materials. FANR invites the public to come and talk to members of its team.




FANR’s Director General, Dr William D. Travers, said: "FANR is working in accordance with international best practices to ensure the implementation of the highest levels of safety, security and safeguards in the UAE’s nuclear sector. In carrying out its responsibilities, FANR sets public communication as a priority and constantly strives to keep its communication channels open." "Through this open forum, we will introduce FANR’s role and respond to the public’s questions on FANR’s responsibilities" he added.




The forum is open to the public and will be led by FANR’s officials who represent various departments including Radiation Safety, Nuclear Safety and Education and Training. The public will be able to ask questions about FANR’s regulatory work, scholarships, employment opportunities and its responsibility to society.
