U.A.E.'s Red Crescent visits Typhoon Haiyan-hit areas


WAM MANILA, April 16th 2014 (WAM) — A delegation from U.A.E.’s humanitarian major Red Crescent Authority (RCA) today met with Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Chairman and CEO Richard Gordon in Tacloban City which last year bore the brunt of Typhoon Haiyan along with Leyte province and Palau.




During the meeting, RCA delegation led by Fahad Abdul Rehman bin Sultan received updates on the situation in the affected areas and the on the possibility of implementing infrastructure, education and basic healthcare projects in order to improve the living conditions of affected population.




RCA team made a field visit to the areas to have a firsthand experience of the needs of the local communities.




The team is set to meet former Senator Panfilo Lacson who was appointed by the country’s president as the government’s rehabilitation czar in areas in central Philippines ravaged by typhoon Haiyan.




U.A.E. Embassy in the Philippines facilitated the mission of RCA to the affected areas.
